What is Carb?
In 2009, California Air Resources Board, or CARB, began phasing stricter air quality rules for particleboard, MDF, and hardwood plywood. CARB has some of the strictest regulations in the nation and is a globally accepted standard. CARB CERTIFICATION means that the plywood made is used with environmentally friendly chemicals. CARB is the lead agency for climate change programs and oversees all air pollution control efforts in California to attain and maintain health-based air quality standards. This regulation sets formaldehyde emissions limits for hardwood plywood (HWPW), particle board (PB) and medium density fiberboard (MDF).
